Last night, Dara was out grading at the Coffee Bean on Seal Beach’s Main Street. At around 8:00 PM, she called me and suggested I grab a camera and walk over to old town Seal Beach. There was a fire in an apartment above one of the Main Street store fronts. I heard a fireman say it was a three alarm fire. By the time my father-in-law and I arrived, the fire was out, but the fire crews spent a long time checking out the neighboring buildings and thoroughly investigating the fire. A bystander told us that the building had been renovated with walls that were rated with 2 hour fire protection. Thus, the slow burn allowed the fire crew to contain it before it spread to other buildings. There were at least 12 fire engines and 12 other emergency vehicles from local fire and police stations. We saw trucks from Seal Beach, Los Alamitos, Huntington Beach, Long Beach, and even the local Navy Base. If I had an SLR, the photos would be better, but they aren’t bad for a point and shoot digital camera.
