I am a student at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena. I am getting my Master of Arts in Theology. One of the reasons I chose Fuller was because of its unique program that attempts to blend one’s art with his/her study of theology. Thus, through Fuller’s Brehm Center, I am getting an MAT Degree in the Theology/Arts Format. I am in my final year of study, and that affords me the opportunity to spend three quarters working on my Master’s Thesis Project. Instead of writing a traditional piece of scholarly work, we are encouraged to integrate our knowledge of theology and ministry into our art. It is more an exercise in practical theology. In my case, art means graphic and web design. It is my goal to design a Web 2.0 site geared towards serving the Christian community. I won’t write much more than that here because I don’t want to give away my brilliant ambitions just yet. The site will reside under the ENDEAVR.COM domain. I am in the process of trying to design its logo. Instead of using a typeface that already exists, I chose to draw each letter in the domain’s logo. I may create a small icon to sit to the left of the word. Everything I think of seems too cliche. Any ideas for an icon? How about a critique of the logo so far? Please leave comments.

  1. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but my initial gut reaction was “Japanese video game about futuristic dragon wars.” Knowing what this project is about, I would say don’t be too afraid of the obvious. Rather than completely avoid anything cliche, try thinking of it as reinventing and reframing it in a modern web 2.0 like context. Can’t wait to see how this project turns out.

Expelled - Ben Stein’s Inconvenient Truth width=

Ben Stein possesses just the right combination of practical knowledge, sardonic humor, winsome charm, disarming frankness, and popular credibility to successfully usher a large audience into theatres to face the "inconvenient truth" that Darwinist scientists are suppressing valuable research in an effort to protect the status quo among the academic elite.

Hallelujah width=

"Hallelujah" is a song written by Leonard Cohen. It was first recorded on his 1984 album Various Positions, but there have been numerous covers. Jeff Buckley has rendered what I consider the best version of the song (he is pictured above). I want to introduce this blog's meager audience to this beautiful song and invite you to post the thoughts it stirs in the comments.

This represents my third attempt to design a logo for endeavr.com, the site I am designing for my master’s thesis project at Fuller Theological Seminary. I’d love feedback. How does it strike you?

No Red Capes width=

I am developing two web sites for Gary Mayes, Vice President of U.S. Ministries for Church Resource Ministries. One site is his personal/professional blog associated with his profile on CRM’s web site. The other project is an online magazine focused on the topic of leadership. It will eventually reside at noredcapes.com. [...]

If you are a Mac user, you must check out MacHeist and its amazing bundle of applications for only $50. It is more than $400 worth of apps. Part of the purchase price goes to charity as well. This is a win, win, win for everyone involved. MacHeist sells a lot of stuff. The App makers gain a larger audience and user base. The charities get cash. You get great Apps.
